State governors under the auspices of Nigeria Governors Forum after a marathon meeting said they cannot afford to pay N30,000 as minimum wage as they have been saying all along.
Addressing Journalists in Abuja immediately after the meeting NGF Chairman and Zamfara state governor, AbdulAziz Yari said the economy of most of the states would collapse and they would go bankrupt if they make commitment on what is not feasible.
He said just a few of the states across the country can actually pay the N30,000 minimum wage.
AbdulAziz Yari said they therefore, resolved to raise a fresh committee to meet with President Muhammadu Buhari over the issue.
