There is an easy way to make calls for free on Etisalat within some selected group known as your Closed User Group (CUG).
A closed user group refers to people whom you can call and sent text messages for free to these people. You do not need any special Etisalat number as some people may think. All you need to do is to create a Closed User Group or Join another one that has been created already.
There are generally three (3) Packages offered by Etisalat depending on your financial muscles. But for us being the responsible men that need to hear the voice of our lovely fiancées on daily basis, I need to look for a means of calling her to hear her voice every day. Even though the packages are known as EASYBUSINESS Plans, I am not using it for business but for keeping my relationship. But instead of keeping a relationship, you can decide to keep your Business. Whatever it is, saving of money is an important factor.
The three Etisalat Easybusiness plans are:
1. EasyBusiness Compact plan
2. EasyBusiness Complete plan
3. EasyBusiness Premium plan
1. EasyBusiness Compact Plan: in this plan, Etisalat offers you 500 minutes of free talk time at any time of the day.
Etisalat charges 500 naira for this plan. The downside is that, if you talk much like I do, you may end up raining curses on Etisalat one day because after like 4 days, it will seem as if it was just 60 minutes that was given by Etisalat. So if you talk much, just go for the Easybusiness Premium plan.
The code for loading Etisalat Easybusiness compact plan is *246*4*3# Make sure that you have up to 500naira before you do this. Another thing you must take note of is that Etisalat will Automatically renew your 500 naira when the talk time expires, that means that when you load 500 naira for something different, Etisalat will automatically remove your 500 naira and when you call them, they will tell you that, it was auto renewed. So in order to avoid this: whenever your talk time has finished or if your plan has expired, simply call Etisalat customer care on 700 in order to stop the auto renewal of the Easybusiness compact plan first before even loading the airtime :
Remember that you can call anyone within your group but others cannot call you unless they activate their monthly plan too. So with your 500 free talk time, you can use it for calling other people within your group.
Though it was meant to last for one month, sometimes, you can exhaust this talk time in just three days, depending on how long you talk. When it gets exhausted, you may have to load another 500 naira and purchase another additional bundle.
To purchase an additional Easybusiness compact plan when it gets exhausted: dial *304*3# This will give you an additional bundle when the first one you buy has been exhausted and it has not reach one month(30 days). Note that the additional bundle requires the same amount of money for the normal bundle.
2. Easybusiness Complete Plan: with this plan, you will be given 500 minutes of free talk time to call members of your group; you are also given 50 free messages to text anyone within your group and also 100 MB(megabyte) data for browsing.
You will be charged 1000 naira for the Etisalat Easybusiness complete plan. The code to activate the complete plan is: *246*4*2# and when the plan gets exhausted before the one month, you can buy an additional bundle by dialing this code: *304*2#
I sometimes wonder what I will do with 50 messages at this time of Whatsapp and other instant messages, what will someone do with 50 messages? I think I may only need it when I am broke in school and I need to send a message to my mum or siblings. But this means that your mum or siblings must be in the same group with you. This plan has no value for me if I am to judge.
This plan is also auto renewed and on loading 1000 naira, Etisalat will automatically remove your money even before you think of calling someone or browsing with it. So if you do not need the auto renewal, make sure that you deactivate the auto renewal by dialing:
3. Easybusiness Premium plan: this is the plan I love most because it gives me what I wanted by giving me “Unlimited” free calls for one month. With this plan you can keep calling the members of your CUG group for one month. One thing you have to note is that the Unlimited package is not actually Unlimited because there is fair usage of the unlimited package. This means that though Etisalat may give very long free minutes of talk time that you can keep talking with it, some people can talk and even give stories of movies once they hear that something is free. An example is me, it happened one day when we recharged the Easybusiness premium plan with the hope that it will end after 30 days, but we were shocked when it ended after about 18 days. We asked Etisalat customer care agents and they said we have exceeded our fair usage limit; this means we over talked to an extend that a normal human may not think that we could actually reach the fair usage limit. But though I know I talked a lot, Etisalat should never have under rated pople like us by calling this plan as being “Unlimited”. So the use of Unlimited is treachery to me. It is not actually unlimited, but I can say that they tried.
Etisalat charges 1000 naira for Easybusiness premium plan and offers just only “Unlimited” free talk time to call members of your group for a period of 30 days. [But like I said, the unlimited package is not actually unlimited]. If you exhaust the plan like we did, you can buy additional bundle plan by dialing: *304*1#

Payment of Monthly fee: since all Easybusiness plans last for one month, you can decide to be a responsible man by recharging it yourself or if you have a caring fiancée like mine, she may help from time to time. If you are a boss, you can decide to pay for all group members like your staff or you may allow them pay for themselves. But basically, there are 2 methods of payments:
1. Every Individual pays: You can Join a group in which every individual pays for his or her own package in order to make calls. This means, before you call any member of the group, you have to buy a package, if not, it is only the person that buys the package that can call.
You can also create a group in which other individuals will pay for themselves.
· To create a group for others to pay for themselves: You will dial *303#
· To Join a group in which every member pays for their own packages: you need to send a message such as: Join XXXX to 303 example is Join 11111 to 303 where XXXX or 11111 is the closed user group of Id number. This Id number is given to the group owner upon creating the group, so ask the group owner or any group member of the ID.
· To Leave a group in which every member pays for their own packages: you need to send the message: remove XXXX to the number 303, example is by sending remove 11111 where 11111 or XXXX is the group CUG ID number.
To Update Group name: in order to update the name of your group, you have to be the one that created the group. You will send the message: update XXXX abcde to 303, example is to send update 2100 J&N where 2100 or XXXX is the group ID and ‘abcde’ or ‘J&N’ is the name you want to update. If you do not do this, Etisalat will give you a code as the name by default.
2. The group owner pays so that all members can freely call one another
If you intend to create a group in which you get to pay for the monthly access fee, such as the boss paying for the workers so as to call him anytime something comes up at work, or a father paying for the family.
· To create this type of group: you need to send master 1000p to 303 to create a group for the Easybusiness Premium plan that cost 1000 naira. If you need to create a group for Easybusiness complete plan, you need to send
master 1000c to 303 and if you like to create a group for the Easybusiness compact plan, you need to send master 500c to 303 for the Easybusiness compact plan of 500naira.
· To Join this type of group: you need to send the message: Join XXXX to 303 example is Join 11111 to 303 where XXXX or 11111 is the closed user group of Id number. This Id number is given to the group owner upon creating the group, so ask the group owner or any group member of the ID.
· To Leave a group in which group owner pays for member : you need to send the message: remove XXXX to the number 303,
example is by sending remove 11111 where 11111 or XXXX is the group CUG ID number.
· To remove a member: you have to be the group owner in order to remove another member. Send remove XXXX phone_number , to 303
example is remove 1234 08090000111 where 11111 is the CUG ID and 08090000111 Is the member’ phone number that you want to remove.
How to Start using Etisalat Easybusiness plan
Before you begin enjoying these packages, you need to Join an already established group or you need to Create a group.
Please note that you can be on one plan and another member of your group can be on another plan. The difference is that you guys will get different benefits. This means that I can be on Easybusiness Compact and my mother could be on Easybusiness premium and I could call her and she could call me as long as we are in the same CUG Group.
Additional benefits: you can call UK landlines, Canada, China, India and US at 20k/sec and you can call all networks in Nigeria at 25k/sec.
To start enjoying the Etisalat Closed User Group (CUG), you need to a minimum of three (3) members in your group.
Make sure you call Etisalat customer care on 700 to stop the autorenewal if you do not like it. They are very snappy in picking the calls. Their customer service is very satisfactory in terms of quickly picking your calls.
