As the results of Saturday’s elections continue to trickle in from all corners of the country, reports reaching us say the governor of Niger state, Babaganida Aliyu has lost his bid to be a member of the senate. The governor who was contesting on
the platform of the Peoples Democratic
Party (PDP), for the Niger-East Senatorial District was trounced by the
candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), David Umaru by a wide margin.
Umaru scored 49,519 votes while Aliyu got 17,209 votes.
